Cameron Williams
Diesel Project
Born 19th December 1994, British
In an effort to redefine the concept of modernity, with a focus on frugality and conservation, this design is a reflection of the utility and resourcefulness of African cultures. Staying true to his roots of inspiration, Cameron aims to embody the natural essence of style and utility that are part of the everyday culture and lives of these people. Taking inspiration from ethnic groups such as the Nuba and Surma of Eastern Africa, and the Wodaabe of Western Africa, his project explores the pairing of up-cycled Diesel denim with other up-cycled fabrics and offcuts as well as traditional sustainable African textiles created using indigenous techniques, like Ugandan Bark Cloth.
