In Syna’s imaginary depiction of an alien queen from Venus – Lady Weyousta – royalty is no longer a symbol of power, but rather a utopia of cultural fusion. This ‘alien royal fashion’ reflects the combination of different cultures around the world. It creates a unique style representing a surreal floating nation which uses cultural exchange as its language. The dress combines elements inspired by space, time and culture with its main source in 15th century Venetian women, yet including styles drawn from China’s Qing Dynasty as well as ancient Egypt and India.
